Aloha everyone! Did I tell you all I was going to Hawaii last week? Well, we just got back today from the lovely island of O'ahu and I think I'm still on island time because I'm wide awake!

It was my third time there, but my family's first time so, aside from a few mishaps here and there that I'd like to forget (5-hour delay which cost us an entire day in Waikiki, staying at a less than desirable hotel, forgetting the video camera on the plane when we got home...wow, looks like I haven't tried forgetting yet, have I? haha!), it was a wonderful vacation to remember for us all. Cile and I were texting practically every couple of hours. She should've just come with us! hahaha!

Now it's back to reality, which is my least favorite part about going on vacation. These next few weeks will be stressful to say the least, and in more ways than I'd like to experience at one time. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I just pray for the strength for all of us to get through it.

Okee folks, it's almost 3 am and though my boss said I could come in late tomorrow, I don't see the need in postponing the terror that awaits in my cubicle. Oh man, the thought...shivers...

Anyhow, MAHALO everyone for reading this rant. I've got entries up the yinyang with way more meat than this little update, but I'm almost 110% sure I won't get to post any of it until next weekend. Labor Day long weekend--woo hoo!!!

brief [brēf)]
A short, succinct statement; short in time, duration, length, or extent; succinct; concise
Synonyms include: abrupt, blunt, short, curtailed

Bachelorette parties...they are rarely ever spoken of again except by those who were there to witness it. So in keeping with tradition, the following is a summary of our weekend in San Diego to celebrate Iya's last few weeks as a single gal, with visuals which tell the tale...without telling everything.
Cile & Rochelle's weekend began at the crack (and I do mean crack) of dawn Firday morning. They left L.A. at 5:30 am and, upon arriving in La Jolla and being unable to check-in early, roamed the area to familiarize themselves with our home for the next 2 1/2 days. When Iya and I arrived, the first activity was to scoot the bride-to-be to her massage.
That evening we had dinner and drinks at George's at the Cove. Sitting in the "Ocean Terrace" section of the restaurant, we ate our dinner with the Pacific Ocean as our backdrop (though shadowed in the dark of night), breathing in the aroma of our cuisine, while enjoying the breeze that sifted through the balcony of diners.
The "downtown" area of La Jolla is lined with shops, restaurants, bars and cafes and we were fortunate to be out on such a refreshing, beautiful evening.
The next morning we awoke to the take in this ocean view from our hotel room. I felt like we were in a totally different place, somewhere far, because this is not something we see everyday. Many thanks to Rochelle who researched every hotel in San Diego to find this awesome spot!
After lunch at Jose's Courtroom, we walked through La Jolla streets, eating our gelato, shopping and just enjoying the relaxing ambiance of the day. The sun wasn't streaming down and it wasn't freezing. It was just perfect!
Along the way we encountered a small toy shop where Cile met her new sock puppet friends; friends whom she lovingly named: Agnes, Merma, Meow, Doggie and Riann. hahaha!
After a short, but much needed moment to rest, we played games, Iya opened gifts and of course, we toasted one to the bachelorette.
After a few hours of primping, we headed to Roppongi for dinner. We dined al fresco on Asian-style tapas, sushi, noodles, etc. Sustenance was necessary for the evening of major partying that lay ahead.
On Broadway was the spot for 21 girls who were treated to V.I.P. service, from the comfortable lounge which housed 3 sofas and some ottomans, a table of drinks mixed all night by our very own bartender, Cecile Marie, and plates of white chocolate covered strawberries and macaroons that were refilled ALL EVENING.
There would be no skimping on partying that night, especially not for the bachelorette. This was a memorable night for Drunk Iya. If you weren't there, you missed a great show. Just the infinite ways she wore her veil was entertaining for us. And then she thanked everyone who came out of the club for coming to her bachelorette party. Iya, you dork.
The next morning, some of us attended mass at Mary, Star of the Sea (or according to Rochelle, Mary - Sea of the Star) and then we had a well-deserved buffet luncheon at El Torito. YUMMY!!
On the way back home, Cile, Iya, Rochelle and I passed by the Carlsbad Outlets to do some shopping, walk around, etc. After a dinner at Salo-Salo Grill (Iya's treat! Thanks!), we began our bachelorette party recovery.
I've gone to a fair share of bachelorette parties and have come to this conclusion: a bachelorette party is only as fun as the bachelorette. I look at this picture of Iya and, well, you tell me if we had fun or not.
